May 30, 2023 The 'Succession' finale set a series record in viewership (2.928 million), but it never saw the numbers of an HBO blockbuster. That number is 68% higher than the Season 3 finale, for example, but less than half of what "The Last of Us" would get on a regular basis.
They mention that while there is a motivation to watch it live, many people will only watch it afterwards, which is basically the nature of TV-consuming in streaming era.
Including this delayed viewing, season 4 episodes are currently averaging 8.7 million viewers, which includes the evening an episode premieres and all catch-up viewing of an episode during the season-long run (from the first day it aired until the day the season ends), and that number is about 40% above last season’s average.
yeah but every one of those 2.928 million people wrote a thinkpiece.
