That was not the whole quote, which people are picking and choosing. The lines that followed that are “I frankly do not understand what is happening. Either Evan's claims that she is receiving death threats are true and Jack is not safe in her care, or they are not true and she is withholding our son from me for other reasons of her own invention.”

And people can get mad all they want, but he’s right. If MM is threatening her life to the point where she feels this unsafe, her son should not be in her primary care. She kidnapped her child and withheld him from his father. There is no excusing that - that was not the right way to do it.

Jamie may not be sympathetic to what she’s going through and that for sure makes him an asshole but to compare his lack of compassion or empathy to the things Marilyn Manson has done to her is not it

Bell's quote ignores that MM made threats specifically against their son as well, not just Evan, which is why ppl are cutting out the disingenuous shit and boiling it down to what it sounds like. No it's not just "either/or" those two options Bell gave; if MM threatened the kid and he lives like 3 miles away from Bell than obviously the kid isn't safe with Bell either. Only Bell doesnt seem to care about that bc he doesnt seem to believe those threats were ever made, either against Evan or their child. That's why he's an asshole.
