May 29, 2023 23:36

This is desperately sad news about Evan Rachel Wood deciding not to share custody of her son in LA because of the danger she fears she & her family faces in LA.

This is a heart breaking decision for any devoted mother. #IStandWithEvanRachelWoodhttps://t.co/BFDRDyy5fM

Whatever fears Evan may have regarding third parties should have nothing to do with me or custody of our son. I do not even want to think of the short- and long-term psychological harm Evan might be inflicting upon Jack with this kind of talk and my prolonged separation from him

Fucking yikes, Jamie. I understand his concerns over Evan making that move but wasn't there a better way of phrasing this?

I'm sad for Evan.

yeah obviously moving without telling him was not the greatest thing to do but the fact that he seems to have literally zero sympathy for how scared she must have been to take that action is a big yikes, and also that they clearly didn't have the kind of relationship where she felt like she could go to him for help.

I think we should extend him some grace as this is literally kidnapping. People shouldn't judge Evan either, she's clearly facing horrific circumstances and doing the best she can, but I'm also not gonna get on Jamie's case for being angry about her actions.

I mean saying that the possibility of Evan being physically harmed by her abuser while their son is living in her home should have nothing to do with their son is pretty fucked up.

That's not what he said though. He said "son's custody," referring to their custody agreement.

I don't know what Evan was dealing with specifically (eg the nature of the death theats) that made her take such extreme action and I'm sure she did the best she could. But the kid's dad has a complete right to be pissed that the other parent moved the child out of state without telling him or adjusting the custody agreement - again, this is kidnapping. It's not a moral judgement on her but it is what it is and he's allowed to be pissed about it rather than empathetic to her.

The only villain here is MM and the freaks sending the death threats.

He has a right to be upset she didn't tell him she was leaving the state. He does not have a right to act like Evan being understandably afraid of retaliation by her abuser will have more impact on his son's wellbeing than if his son's mother is safe.

MM is the one sending death threats. He threatened to send Hell's Angels after her and to have them [Spoiler (click to open)]SA her son in front of her before killing them both.

Yeah. It was in her initial reasoning for why she felt she had to get out of California ASAP, because she figured biker gangs from California probably won't have much reach on the east coast.

The more I find out about this, the more disgusted I get. Men are truly evil to their core.

This just adds to why Evan felt the need to escape. I would hope Jamie can empathise with that.

MM needs to die.

Literally no. Plus there are tons of terrible people in MCs. Did you not hear about the shooting that just occurred in Red River, NM (my community) where 25,000 families with children were in attendance?

Officially, the club rejects child molestors, IV drug users & anyone who has ever applied to work in law enforcement.

Unofficially, you can't know the true motives of 3,500 people.

I'm relatively certain his threat was intended as, "I know scary people and I can make everything really awful for you," and he found a quick method of summarizing that, but given what he did to her himself, anyone that'd be friends with him is not someone I'd consider a well adjusted person.

yeah like....

I 100% understand why Evan moved and why she was scared. But failing to inform Jamie was uh... not the correct course of action and understandably fucked up their custody agreement.

So an awful situation all around.

From his comment at the source, it really sounds like he thinks she is paranoid. I mean, she may well be! I can't imagine getting death threats leaves one in a stable mental state, but the comment seemed very flippant. Almost as though he doesn't really think there is much of a threat despite everything ERW is publicly dealing with.
