Eva Longoria: "A white male can direct a $200 million film, fail and get another one. That’s the problem. I get one at-bat, one chance, work twice as hard, twice as fast, twice as cheap." https://t.co/2Ok8qvGKYT

the same happens with make up (most of the known make up artists are men and most of the make up brands are man owned , even if there have been exceptions lately with celebrity lines), hair (famous hairdressers), clothes (there are way more male designers than female), as soon as something that is considered as a "female activity" has to be recognized ad an high level, men take over

That's capitalism. Cooking and brewing beer and making clothes are all "women's work" when it's a mandatory activity done for zero compensation. Add money to it and all of a sudden it's just too complex for women to worry their pretty little heads about.

Unless it is in film editing, that's mostly Women. There were Men film editors in the early days of Hollywood, but film splicing was similar to sewing & that's "women's work" so the men got out of the business.
I recommend the documentary The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing that goes into it more.
