Simon Kinberg wrote X-Men: The Last Stand, which was universally panned, then 13 years later wrote and directed Dark Phoenix. He got a second chance to make the same story again even though he fucked it up the first time!

Truly one of the wildest examples of how men fail upwards I've ever seen.

The guy who terribly ran the last couple seasons of OG Dexter was given the reins of Iron Fist which became the lowest rated Marvel show so he then got ANOTHER Marvel show and then that became the worst rated Marvel show!! Men really get chance after chance.
