I was devastated at the time. I remember wearing my Buffy shirt to school that day. Looking back, the last season was (IMO) absolutely awful and it should have ended with season 5.

The last season is just so bad compared to the others (even season six which I know is polarizing.) The plotting is just terrible and they bend and twist established characters to fit their story. But I mostly like Chosen. I want Buffy to get a happy ending where she gets to go out into the world and live.

same. i can never agree with people who wanted the show to end in season 5. season 5 was definitely a better season overall, but personally I think it would be such an unsatisfying ending for Buffy to just sacrifice herself and die when so much of her character was about wishing she could live. "you're just a girl" "that's what i keep saying" 🥺

As depressing as it is, S6 gave us some great episodes about depression and adulthood so I can't fault it for that. But gdi, it made me hate everyone in her life including Giles, and I don't want to hate Giles. I've said it before but they could've resolved ASH's departure so much better if they had Giles fly off to the Watcher's Council to defend Faith and be the Watcher she never had; she was dealt with such a bad hand and never stood a chance. It would then make sense why Buffy never called him for help; she didn't want him to worry because she didn't want the Counsel to deem Faith a lost cause and kill her to activate the next Slayer.

S7 was so bad I've only ever watched the entire thing through twice. Caleb was such a boring Big Bad for the final season and the sets look so fake and vacant compared to S1-S3. I'm fine with the show's (2 part?) finale but otherwise, I don't think there was any other episode worth rewatching in S7.

Im really surprised that they never flat out addressed what TWC were thinking about having a Slayer locked up in prison. Killing Faith and controlling a new Slayer seems like something they'd be fully up for. Or at least have people in power to get her relocated to England under their supervision.

For me, it was when Giles acted like Buffy was irresponsible for needing money. He gets paid, and got retroactive pay, to watch her but she gets nothing for dying to save the world? Just wild.

I hated that entire storyline. Between Joyce running a successful art gallery, having life insurance, and im sure rebuilding her savings...for all of it to run out that quickly...and making Hank into an absolute deadbeat dad...

It could've been "money will be tight but we're good. I'll just have to get a job and all the adults will chip in" or even have Buffy contemplate rejoining TWC under her demands.

Took over Joyce’s room and didn’t contribute a cent. The rage I still feel about that.

At the very least, they were paying to live on campus so there should have been money to put towards the living expenses.

Honestly, I'd have less issue with it if either of them could conjure up food and do house maintenance with their magic but Buffy still had to pay for electricity, water, and property tax, buy clothes and things for personal hygiene. Even bandages cost money.

Idg how they, as friends, could visit her at work at the Meat Palace and not think "Hey, maybe I should get a job too to help out; Buffy still needs to patrol after this so how is she getting enough sleep?"

omg lol "even bandages cost money" is making me think of this tweet

Food $200
Data $150
Rent $800
Candles $3,600
Utility $150
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my family is dying

but bandages instead of candles.

I think Tara and Willow would disagree. They need their candles and salt, and whatever herbs their spells needs. I doubt Anya would let them take these things from The Magic Box for free, lmao.
