Academy Award winner and 2023 Cannes Juror Brie Larson, was asked if she will be attending the Wife Beater's new film at the opening ceremony.
During a press conference today she mostly evaded the question, when asked whether she’d attend the world premiere, which she isn’t required to do since it’s not playing in competition.
“You’re asking me that?” she responded during the jury press conference today. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand the correlation or why me specifically.” When pressed, she added, “You’ll see, I guess, if I will see it. And I don’t know how I’ll feel about it if I do.”
My only guess as to why they asked her this is because she refused to clap for Casey Affleck after she presented him his Oscar at the 2017 Academy Awards. Affleck was accused of sexual harassment by two women who had worked with him for the 2010 film 'I'm Still Here'.
