i hated it so much when it first aired bc i hated dawn so much and her stupidity causing buffy's sacrifice pissed me off to the point where it became my least favorite finale

I like Chosen as a ~socialist ending but it could have been better executed. Season 7 was bogged by lots of bullshit while season 5 is pretty perfect so it’s tough.

I dunno, upon rewatch it becomes pretty obvious that Glory was a shitty big bad. She was my favourite when I was a kid, but now I can’t ignore the fact that she barely does anything but lay around and moan about not having the Key.

I don't like an ending with Buffy dying. After everything she did, her reward should be to get to live happy. And a blissful afterlife should only come after she gets to live her life.

Yeah I always think the same when I see the popular opinion that Buffy should have ended with season 5. I don’t disagree that it would have been a stronger season overall to end on, but The Gift would have been such a downer to end the entire series on with Buffy ending up as just another slayer who died young and tragically.

The execution of season 7 wasn’t always great, but at least it ended things on Buffy shaking things up and making a difference for the young girls coming after her

Exactly. What kinda message is that? Hey, Buffy, after all you accomplished and all you suffered....your reward is death. How would anyone be able to rewatch the show?

Idk i think it still would've been satisfying. Very SAD and tragic but satisfying. She went out on her terms and would've died the ultimate hero.

Some artsy side of me understands the beautiful tragedy of her dying (I am quite a fan of no matter how hard they try the hero still looses (looking at you, season 7 episode Help)).

But as Buffy's #1 fan (check the username!) I say: screw you all. Buffy lives forever! She gets to do what ever she wants! I just can't reconcile the art with 5 years of watching Buffy suffer and still keep going just for it all to moot and she dies. I can't do it! You can't make me!

Plus poor Dawn looses her mom and her sister within months of each other and I am also not here for that.

Ultimately I agree! As Buffys #1 outside of ontd 😉, i want her to have the happiest of endings but if the show had ended at s5...i would rewarch and cry every time
