Perhaps, but Ellen was a PART of the madness there. It was made clear that Kelly is not.

... but there have long been rumours that Ellen's private personality is MUCH different to her onscreen persona... i.e., that even if she wasn't directly involved in it, she may have been tacitly 'allowing' it to happen by turning a blind eye when it didn't impact her.

Not so with Kelly, as far as I know!

i would hope shes a different person off camera. Rosie O Donnell hated being labeled the "queen of nice", knowing damn well she wasn't.

She did enough things on that show that were visibly uncomfortable for her guests I'd have a hard time ignoring the rumors about her directly.

Ellen had a reputation of being mean to staff and guests. People seem to have forgotten all the evidence of her being a very unpleasant person.
