Her comment was shitty, but I really don't like how the media has been clamoring for some sort of backlash against her.

Everyone always loves piling on the latest punching bag.

uh, light brown is still brown. Especially when combined with an obviously Latina surname in the US.

Ontd once thought rita ora and Alicia Vikander were poc, so don't ever trust what these white folks on here say who is a poc or white adjacent, any one who is not lily white gets the poc label as if we are some dollar store sales item to be given away, and they stay conflating latino ancestry with race, smh.

She's so very young and has been working for a long time. The pile on doesn't sit right with me.

We constantly see it happen with up and coming actresses. And later on, people will agree they were too hard on them, but don't seem to learn from their mistakes.

also, she was right to change her lines, if they were anything like the one she cited. That stuff deserved the vomit emoji.

and- writers throwing tantrums at an actress for daring to point out their work was shoddy and didn't make sense for the character, six months before the current strike? Making a pile-on on a 20 year old over a show as badly written as Wednesday, is not the own they think it is.

edit: this is exactly like the way media used to pile on 20something female celebs in the 00s, only back then it was "we're justified talking shit about her because we have moral justification, she [is a bad example! doesn't wear a bra! criticised shoddy writing on her show! goes out partying sometimes, what a hoe!]"

now it's "we're justified piling on this female celeb because we have real moral justification, she [criticised shoddy writing on her show/said something a bit blunt at age 20/has bad fashion sense/is everywhere]"

If the writers were men, it wouldn't surprise me that she said the truth
