why does this show keep trying to shove the idea that JOEL is the love of Midge’s life down our throats?!?!?! it’s like if they spent all of AYITL trying to tell us that Christopher was the love of Lorelai’s life for gods sake.

Alex Borstein is this show’s saving grace. I did like filling in the blanks here, cause I really needed a break from how fucking boring Midge’s main story has gotten. Always glad to see Sean Gunn and Danny Strong, they’re perfect in this environment. also nice to see Will Sasso and Alex Borstein together again. and Darren Criss looked hot in his small role, whew. Jason Ralph is probably by favorite new addition to the show too, I like him way more than Gordon Ford who is just a bore.

The actor who plays Joel has always looked like a low rent Will Schuester (aka smarmy and smug) to me. In contrast, I always found Jason Ralph to be smarm-free and smug-free (hence way more attractive).

He was great on The Magicians. I always feel a little bad for him because at 98% of the events that she attends, there’s usually one picture of them together on the red carpet (which most news outlets don’t bother publishing) and then the photographers are like “Can we get one with just Rachel?” and proceed to take a zillion pics of her solo. When the situation is reversed (male celeb is more famous than his spouse), the paps are more than happy to take pictures of them together on the red carpet. And it’s not like he’s a complete nobody since he was the main character on a show that ran for five seasons (and he produced an Obie award winning play).
