I was surprised by how good Jessica Biel was. She played Candy as the socipath she was down to a T.

Jessica Biel is pretty great in this, unsurprising because she was also great in The Sinner. Is it weird to say I don’t think she’s taken as seriously because she’s married to JT?

I haven’t watched the HBO version and most likely won’t because I’ve already watched it on Hulu. Always crazy to me how networks put out shows and movies that are about the same thing at the same time. Like we don’t need 2 shows about this.

I get that dumping on Timberlake is fun, but come on. She was never really taken seriously as an actress, and while it's nice that she's producing now and finding roles that she's good in, it would've been the same no matter who her spouse is.

Yeah, there's even a joke about it on Bojack Horseman.

I don't remember her in anything outside of Seventh Heaven

JB once said she's too pretty to get roles or some bullshit. That was pre-Timberlake, I believe. With Derek Jeter at that time.

It took awhile for her to recover from that.

I understood what she was trying to say, but I facepalmed so hard at the way she said it. She made a pretty benign statement - she was getting typecast because she was considered "the hot girl" by casting directors herself and they wouldn't even consider her for certain roles - sound so obnoxious lol

That started well before she hooked up with him.

She got typecast really early as the hot girl in bro comedies or the hot girl in action movies. She had this very FHM image and casting directors didn't take her seriously as a result. I don't think it helped that her face is too modern looking for period films as well, which might've been the kind of role people took her more seriously after

Producing I think has been a good move for her because she's getting to put herself in roles nobody was giving to her otherwise

I think it's more because she was on 7th Heaven and was pretty wooden on it.
