Katy Perry is taking a break from American Idol, ostensibly to play the coronation. However, there might be an underlying reason that is being hidden. She might be taking a break because she has drawn a lot of criticism for her time as a judge.
Let's start from the beginning. In 2018, Katy made her debut as a judge on the reboot of American Idol, for which she was paid a reported $25 million. She was mostly very boring as a judge. However, she has recently gone viral for some controversial reactions that she had to contestants.
In one, she breaks down crying when a contestant revealed he survived a school shooting. She then yells, "Our country has fucking failed us." Fans said her reaction seemed self-indulgent, fake, and overwrought. (To be fair, a lot of these commenters were gun-crazy conservative trolls.)

Another contestant accused her of "mom-shaming" when she made a joke about a 25-year-old mother of three having too much sex.

The studio audience booed Katy when she criticized a contestant for wearing a glittery outfit.

A few weeks ago (I didn't research the exact date), Katy revealed that she would perform at the coronation of Prince Charles in the UK and would take a break as a result.
Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette will temporarily replace her.
So...do you think this is the real truth?!
