Every time I hear "Long Long Time" all I'm gonna think about is Bill and Frank from The Last Of Us. https://t.co/ssF4E5tEK6 - BuzzFeed (@BuzzFeed) April 30, 2023
Lost had soo many genuinely amazing moments and episodes like this one, but I am so hesitant to rewatch given how pissed off I was at the ending lol. I watched it live at the time, I think it’s a different experience for people that binged it later lol - I spent years of my life on it!
It was my favorite show, but yeah I mostly remember the good seasons and the last one not so much. Idk if I want to remind myself. Watching with people at the time was so fun, I even took a one-credit class on it before the final season in college as an excuse to talk to people about it lol
I remember I found the finale emotional, I think maybe even cried. I thought Matthew Fox’s acting was great (I know he’s trash). But it felt really hollow because it just all lead up to nothing? The finale, like the show itself, had these really intense and touching character moments but was just narratively incoherent. And then the creators retconning “it was all about the characters” just…… I can’t lol
Oh I’m sure I cried, but I’m a lil pissbaby when it comes to shows I’m emotionally invested in lol so that isn’t saying much. I remember thinking the finale was fine, I certainly wasn’t as upset as the fandom at large but that was my issue too - the narrative they’d built up just sort of ended. Honestly seeing them all together again was enough for me lol
I was listening to an unrelated podcast and one of the hosts said her problem with it was that they promised answers and one of the big questions was ‘why is the island magic?’ to which the answer was, ‘because it’s magic’ lol and that’s pretty much how I remember the narrative playing out
the last 2 seasons are a SLOG, i'd just watch the first 3 seasons and bow out lol. the last season is such a cop out but not as bad as i remember it upon rewatch.
But also Downtown by Petula Clark in this scene:
