I saw the Ursula doll at Walmart but they were out of Ariel. I wanted to see it in person, but I'm glad their out of Ariel. Hopefully they went to children & not people who resell them.
Unpopular opinion but I'm glad Ursula was not played by a drag queen. There aren't that many female villain roles so I hate to see such an iconic role given to a man, especially because the reasoning is often because "Ursula is such an over-the-top, larger-than-life diva, a mere woman could NEVER do this role justice! A man in drag will always have more drama, flamboyance, attitude and wit than some boring basic bitch". There's also the argument that "the character was based on a drag queen", which is not quite true. The visual design of the character was inspired by a drag queen, but the personality and mannerisms were inspired by the voice actress, Pat Carroll.
I knew that the character was inspired by Divine but I didn't know about Pat Carroll! Thank you for correcting me tbh.
I mean, Melissa McCarthy will probably do the character justice. But for the longest time, I thought she was going to be played by Lizzo. Lizzo thought that she was going to be played by Lizzo. LOL I'm a fan of Melissa McCarthy so I'll be cautiously optimistic.
Same. I know that giving up your voice and your family to chase after a guy who has literally never spoken a single word to you is a terrible life choice, but I still love the songs, the animation, and everything about this movie. It’s by far my favorite Disney princess movie.

I mean, I'm mad that Lizzo didn't happen and I wish Ursula was played by a drag queen but I also like Melissa McCarthy? I hope she surprises me.
