DarlingssSss, in slow news days, books written in 1930s will get minor word changes and get a wee disclaimer that some of the language is outdated and some people are outraged, i say OUTRAGED.

The disclaimer printed on the opening pages of the 2023 reissue of Thank you, Jeeves says: ‘Please be aware that this book was published in the 1930s and contains language, themes and characterisations which you may find outdated. And that got people mad.

Jeeves is the quintessential stereotypical British butler who works for your stereotypical English aristocratic man. The books are in this OP's opinion quite funny, and have been adapted for tv in the Fry and Laurie version in the 1990s.

ONTD, what do you think about updating "outdated language" in books? Is it peak woke, or just a decent thing to do so everyone can enjoy, in these case these books? Or should people know that it was written in a different era and use their critical reading skills to realise that nowadays that language is not appropriate?
