So I’m diagnosed ADHD and likely Autistic too. Not going to pursue a diagnoses though as it’s a ton of money and doesn’t do much.

But it’s been 2 years since I was diagnosed with ADHD and I’m still grieving who I could have been.

I’m mostly ok but between the pandemic and work being terrible, I’m so burnt out. I just can’t do anything anymore other than work.

hey just a friendly reminder that you absolutely fucking rule and who you've been without a diagnoses all of these years also fucking rules, too. i completely empathize with you as i was just diagnosed in december but 32 years too late <3

I feel you so hard about the grief. I finally got diagnosed with ADHD the other year and I know I'm still young (I'm 30), but I get so angry and sad when I think about how different and better my life could have been if I had been diagnosed and medicated as a teenager.
We deserved better.

We really did. The first study on ADHD that included women was in 200fucking2. I was NINETEEN.

And I get so mad when people (medical peeps especially) claim that TikTok shouldn’t be used for diagnoses.

I went to doctors for TWENTY PLUS YEARS for help and no one identified ADHD. TikTok did. So they can get fucked.

Yuuup. Like yes there are a lot of valid criticisms about the ADHD side of tiktok but the fact that it helps people at all just shows how helpful and important it is! Tiktok isn't exactly unique for having misinformation mixed in with actual facts and useful info, so I don't know why people act like it is.

I met a bunch of people in my mid-20s that had ADHD and went 'wow you are pretty textbook' and that led to me researching ADHD and then seriously pursuing a diagnosis. That led to my roommate also realizing she probably had ADHD and getting a diagnosis. I don't see how that's different from someone seeing a bunch of tiktoks on ADHD and going 'oh wow this resonates for me, I should look into this'.

That is exactly how I feel! I was diagnosed with adhd in my late 30s and suddenly so much of the issues I had in my life before made sense

Unforch I only had access to therapy cos I was in grad school and once I graduated, thanks to the US’s shit health care system my temp job does not provide insurance so I’m raw dogging it w/o therapy or meds. The masking I do at work is exhausting. Thx I hate it

Same. I feel like a lot of time since my diagnosis has been me unpacking all the ways in which my adhd has impacted my life. Just yesterday my mum reminded me of the time that one of my high school teachers got her to come in for a meeting because I “went into my own world a lot” etc.
