I'm not a big Wes Anderson fan so this is a genuine question: Is this the first time he's had more than one POC in a movie at a time?

No, I think the first time was The Royal Tenenbaums? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But was it more than 1? I haven't seen Bottle Rocket yet.

Yes! Thank you! I completely forgot he had two(?) in Royal Tenenbaums. The love interest and the side kick if i'm remembering correctly.

Thank you for answering :) I think i worded it weirdly. I know he's had POC in his films, i just always saw it as one token character per movie so my question was more is this the first movie where he's had multiple POC characters.

I think it might be that the overall whiteness of the films tend to overshadow any POC involved 😂

i dont really pay attention to his stuff, but i think his stop motion animation movie about the coyote had an all white cast... i only remember that because my friends were discussing it when it came out in theaters. i went with them to watch it and i fell asleep and they put popcorn in my wide open mouth for entertainment! how dare they! 😡😡

The Darjeeling Limited had multiple Indian characters in it. It would be egregious even for him to set a movie in India and not have at least a few Indian people in it

Were the Indian characters fleshed out or more like set dressing/props? Is it worth checking out?

Idk, I've never watched a Wes Anderson movie the whole way through, I have no interest in them. All I know is that it's about a bunch of white dudes who take a "spiritual" journey in India, so no fucking thanks.

One of the actors he always goes to is Tony Revolori though who is Guatemalan despite often playing Asian/Arab characters in these movies.

I think the biggest change with him since Grand Budapest is that Tony Revelori and Jeffrey Wright are now on the list of his list of go-to ensemble players
