I haven't seen it yet, but the show's been getting mixed reviews. Mostly blaming Donald Glover's involvement. One thing people agree on though is how great Dominique's performance is.

Which of course confirms Fishback's greatness. This is Rhys and Russell from "The Americans" good, McConaughey from "True Detective" good, Gandolfini/"Sopranos" good. It's not LIKE any of those but it is that level of good..I just wish the show that features it matched it pic.twitter.com/KE8bYMD0Ck

Dominique Fishback absolutely deserves to be in the awards conversation for her electrifying, unsettling and genuinely heartbreaking turn in #SWARM.

What an incredible, monumental performance. Wow. pic.twitter.com/aWzmPdjSfr

Yeah, no. Everything that Dominique is doing is what's called acting. She shifts her posture, the way she tilts her head, changes the shape and look of her eyes, and the tone of her voice as the scene progresses.
Billie isn't doing that. ( ... )

I have been hesitant about this show but Dominique is making me want to watch it. She had me captivated just from the trailer. Billie, however…

Dominique is the only reason I'm going to watch it tbh. And it pisses me off how after that clip was posted everyone on Twitter was in awe over Billie and totally ignoring Dominique when we know who's doing the acting there 💁 Once again folks run to praise a white woman for doing the bare minimum and ignore a WOC who's acting circles around them. Thanks Jamie Lee Curtis 🙄

Dominique’s acting has me in tears within the first episode!!! I completely agree with everything you said. Billie is barely doing anything in that scene but twitter is still like “omg she needs to get more acting gigs! She ATE” and I’m like, Dominique gave us such an insane range within like 15 seconds, were we watching the same clip?! Ugh.

I want to watch this but being in the kpop fandom for over 13 years, the trailers have given me Fandom PTSD tbh.

The final was to vague for my liking but it was a decent season.

The level of vitriol that Chloe Bailey is getting over that 30-second sex scene is concerning.
And it's the same people who defended her when she worked with that abuser, but showing her ass and moaning for a few seconds is worse? That's where people drew the line? A black woman in her mid-20s had fake sex for the cameras?

Mind you, she wasn't fucking herself in that scene. There was Damson Idris but apparently, he's ok.

the black community does not like black women and chloe is very... misguided but it's very concerning how illogical our people are about black women.

I have read lots of praise for Dominique’s acting, but also lots of criticism for Donald Glover’s treatment of black women. I’m mixed about investing time in it.

I get the criticism because like I said above it is a sort of grotesque portrayal at first. like this is not a normal person you're watching so with donald's history I could see how people would react that way. I think genre is at play here as well it's meant to be horror, but yeah if you're looking at it through the lens of this is a young contemporary black woman even while being a crazed stan it's a bit broad and gross. like it's meant to flame stan culture and all that and it's funny cuz we know crazy stan culture, but ur average black woman who goes up for beyonce is not this crazed sick person that would die for beyonce you know? so it's like they really should've added another crazed stan to critique stan culture as a whole. making it this one young black girl you kinda have no choice but to see all that she represents as a physical person so it's a bit messy given his history.
