1x7: Apology Tour Jimmy attempts damage control after his party. Paul’s daughter pays another visit. Liz and Sean discover they have something in common.
i go back and forth on this show. i mostly love it for harrison ford he’s so goddamn good and funny
i‘ve thought about it and i know there are a lot of comparisons to ted lasso, and given bill lawrence and brett goldstein, tonally i get it. but in some ways it’s kind of the anti-lasso. like ted lasso’s world is fun to get into because you kind of wish it were real, you wish some guy’s goofy optimism could change everyone around him for the better. with this show, there’s like zero chance anything jimmy does with his patients would be remotely tolerable and ethical irl so there’s a lot of suspension of belief for the sake of the absurdism and humour. it’s fine, it’s just different. ted lasso falls upward and you want to root for him, jimmy keeps fucking things up and i think the show is banking on jason segel’s likeability and people’s sympathy for jimmy to keep it going and idk how successful that will be
yeah but i think jason has the hardest job out of all of them. only jimmy is the one constantly fucking up and needing to apologize for it, and jason has to try to make that watchable lol. like i said idk how successful he is at it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I would watch a whole show with just Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams shenanigans. Their characters just give me golden retriever and cranky cat vibes and I love those character tropes so much!
I get why people are comparing it to Ted Lasso but I also don't get it. It is pretty much scrubs meets cougar town in its absurdist tone, humour and dubious medical ethics.
