I really don’t like Gabrielle Union and I could never figure out why….

With that said, I wish their family the best. I wish they were advocating for more within the LGBT community.

I’m biased, ok.
I cannot find any articles where they advocate for the other parts of LGBTQIA life (homelessness, neglect, abuse, SA, etc) .

Yes, In her speech she touches on intersectionality in the black community but other than that I fail to see her activism be brought to our communities directly.

I understand they only care because it effects their family.

I’ll admit I have not done a deep dive into her extra curricular activities. And I’m sure my hate for her is why I have high expectations.

They’re advocating for the most marginalized in the LGBTQ community, the people that need it most. Especially specifically speaking about Black trans women who are the most murdered, harmed people in this country.

As a bi woman I feel zero neglect from them, their resources and energy are exactly where they should be.

And yet, said activism only started when their kid came out. Not before. They’ve only been ally’s since 2020

And they still don’t really do anything.

Wow, this comment is honestly so weird and offensive. Trans folks especially Black Trans women are the most ignored, neglected, and harmed among the 2SLGTBQIA+ community. And they've been the only high-profile Black people I've seen consistently advocating for them. And yes their daughter is motivating them but they're two very rich people, their daughter would've had access to all the resources she wanted no matter what the laws are. They didn't have to stand up and show their support, they could've just said "no comment" and went about their business but they didn't even when they were facing all the online hate so it's seriously messed up to dismiss her words like this.

When you advocate for, support, and call out oppression against the most vulnerable groups, it automatically benefits the whole community. Please don't do this.

zaya’s biological mother has deadnamed her multiple times and suggested dwyane and gabby are corrupting her so her being in their custody and receive gender affirming care and support speaks directly to the neglect and harm she’s rescued from in your comment

Zaya's egg donor does the absolute MOST. She's on attorney number 13 in trying to regain custody of Zaya from Dwyane and Gabrielle...even though Dwyane was given full custody of Zara (pre-transition IIRC) while he was still a FULL-TIME active player in the NBA.
