NGL I've looked into adopting as a single woman. I'm not gonna pretend i care enough about dating to prioritize that in my life especially with how horrid dating seems to be

Honestly, my friend who's a solo mom always seems far happier and more chill (as much as a mom can be lol) than my friend who has a partner. And he's not a shitty partner either but at some point, women always end up babying men bc they would rather accept that men don't know how to do things right instead of demanding they stop performing uselessness. I hope your choice, whatever that is, turns out great for you <3

I support your choice and I hope you get exactly what you want! I also want to offer a counterpoint to the anecdotes here about "chill solo moms" from a partnered mom standpoint (mine) and a solo mom standpoint (my friend's sister):

[Spoiler (click to open)]My friend's sister decided to be a solo mom, did IVF, got pregnant, awesome. She's very independent, a full-time teacher with unreliable/distant family members (except my friend), and was really, completely unprepared for what it takes on the most basic level to have a baby. Like, didn't scrape off the lead paint in her own super-old house unprepared. Thought the baby would magically "get used to" and sleep through the barking of her two huge, loud dogs unprepared. She asked my friend to move in with her literally days before giving birth because she only realized at that moment that she had zero plans for childcare, no one to relieve her at any point during the day, and had no one to pick up the slack when she went back to work. My friend, an actual saint, did this! She moved in, prepared the house, and ... )

I’m currently pregnant with my first as a single mom by choice! It’s hard and will undoubtedly get harder once she’s actually here, but I’m so grateful for science making it possible for me to have a baby and I’m looking forward to not having to compromise on how I raise my kids. If you are genuinely considering it, feel free to DM me or check out some of the single mom by choice Facebook groups!
