I think I choose to believe her sisters over people upset at a journalist. Their complaints are not linked to any evidence, just their distaste for a person - rightfully or not.

tbf her sisters are MAGA and also only found out they were not indigenous because of said controversial interviewer. So they actually thought they were Native until the interviewer said they were not.
