Gunn (who is way too online) revealed on twitter that he was hired by DC to write a (not Cavill) Superman script six months ago
So the whole Dwayne Johnson trying to get a Black Adam v Superman movie going and Cavill announcing he is back happened well after DC knew damn well Cavill was done being Superman. oops.
