He's right in the sense that glorifying this one tiny element of filmmaking has always been silly. But I don't really buy the premise. Margot Robbie is a "new" movie star, whether we like it or not. They still exist for sure.

Disagree as people clearly didn’t go out to see her recent films and I consider a movie star someone that people will see their movie on the name alone, like Will Smith. Margot is a celebrity though, for sure. Her filmography since Wolf of Wall Street (OUATIH notwithstanding, which she was a small part and not the draw) is rather lackluster actually and I think a lot of her future film career will depend on the success of Barbie.

Margot isn’t really. People like her and think she’s pretty but no one is rushing to see her in things.

right, you can't really be a movie star if there isn't some box office performance tied to your name. otherwise you're still just a celebrity. there are plenty of A list celebs that aren't movie stars.

I´m not sure. Time will tell if Margot is a Movie Star, but as of right now, she is not universally famous where people across al generations know her, for sure not in places that don´t have English as a first language.

Ticket to Paradise made pretty decent money and was solely marketed on George Cloones&Julia Roberts' names

Bones & All did not do that well though HOWEVER that was also a love story about cannibals in the 80s so I’m not sure it was ever going to do well lol
