-Janet Jackson was reportedly up to win the Global Impact Award at the 2023 Grammys and attend a pre-Grammy event with the Black Music Collective
-Due to schedule conflict, she couldn't attend the pre-Grammy Performance, so her team tried to work out with the Grammys on receiving the honor during the actual broadcast
-Before accepting, she wanted CBS to address and /or apologize for how they treated her after her infamous 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction. They did not reach an agreement ("things just got too complicated and talks ended"), so she did not receive the award or go to the ceremony

The way she was treated was abysmal, especially considering how, almost 20 years later, abusers continue to thrive without any sort of punishment while her career was destroyed for years
