Honestly for this show I don't see removing intimacy scenes as having a negative impact, so not a problem for me.

Is a person like his character even capable of real intimacy?

People confuse sex for intimacy and making his character sexy or desirable in any way is more damaging than helpful.

ie. every serial killer ever

" sexy or desirable in any way is more damaging than helpful." Then they shouldn't have hired an actor that is considered desirable for the role.

Any white man would have been desirable, doesn't solve the problem.

Maybe his IRL kink is getting cast in these roles 🧐

There's a zillion ways for characters to have relations on screen and not have the actors get physical with each other. This shouldn't be a problem for anyone with talent and an ounce of imagination.

There was a user who asked me why I found it refreshing that You People had zero love scenes. This was pretty much my response, or what I wanted to say. I've never heard of an actor having positive and enthusiastic responses to these scenes, and even though some can really sell it, I just don't need it if the chemistry or storytelling is great overall. There hasn't been a sex scene in a film that hasn't felt gratuitous for me in a long, long time. The last one I can think of is an episode of Doom Patrol where Jane's character is participating in an orgy but its ties are with the abuse she endured as a child so you're not meant to be turned on at all. TL;DR but yeah, ditto.

I liked the scene they had in the bed that wasn't a "sex" scene? It was cute! And anyone with half a brain can infer they were being intimate, it's not always needed to be shown.

I thought the sex scene in The Last Of Us episode 3 was really sweet but then again idk if it actually qualifies because it faded to black before the actual sex started happening.

Nooo I haven’t had a chance to watch yet, but now I’m not excited about it.

It just has a different flavor which is refreshing but I find it lacking a bit.

I really enjoyed it! It's completely different than season 3, you can't compare it.

People are just saying things cause they want Love back

I'm not going to say how brave this is. As much as good for him, he's a straight white male, the lead of a successful tv show, so I'm sure this kind of pushback wasn't difficult to pull off. There's a discussion to be had about the power dynamics and intersectionality when it comes to this stuff and movies/tv, because I can only imagine how difficult it must be for women, esp. WOC in the industry who'd like to say no, but are either afraid to speak up or just dismissed.

Agreed. And nothing on him but does his decision mean that other actors will have to do more sex scenes to make up for it in the show?

IMO I think it depends on the actor's star power and the show runner's ego. Like how Zendaya doesn't have to do any nudity but Barbie Ferreira gets written off the show if she doesn't want to do scenes she's not comfortable with.
