Following the successful relaunch of Scream over at Paramount, Sony is looking to give new life to its own slasher franchise with another sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. The new film is not a reboot, and will feature a mix of legacy characters as well as new characters. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to reprise their roles. The upcoming film will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), with a script from Leah McKendrick, according to Dealine. Neal H. Moritz, who co-produced the first two films - as well as the direct-to-video I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), is in talks to return as producer on the new sequel.
Apparently studio execs were "blown away" when pitched the idea for this sequel last fall.
