January 31, 2023 -Today Gunn has announced what the future of DCU will look like and it's still confusing as hell as to what this universe is.
-It wont be a full reboot. Anything Gunn has touched will remain intact. Anything Safran has touched will TBD (Aquaman/Shazam).
-Reeves will continue to operate outside of the DCU and stories like his will be Elseworlds stories.
-CW Superman & Lois would only go on for 2 more seasons max should they make it there. The series would basically need to end before the Superman reboot appears.
-Black Superman Elseworlds story still in development.
Upcoming Films:
Superman: Legacy, written by Gunn and on pace to hit theaters July 11, 2025, this movie will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. “It’s not an origin story,” Safran made clear, via THR.
The Batman Part II: Robert Pattinson will again portray the Dark Knight in at least one more movie directed by Matt Reeves and earmarked for an Oct. 3, 2025 release.
The Brave and the Bold, in which the new DCU will introduce its Batman and Robin in “an unusual father-son story” inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic book series. “This is the introduction of the DCU Batman, of Bruce Wayne and also… our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch,” said Gunn via THR.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a science-fiction adventure based on Tom King’s award-winning recent comics stories, presenting a Girl of Steel “that viewers are not used to seeing.”
Swamp Thing, which will investigate the dark origins of… well, Swamp Thing.
The Authority, in which characters from DC’s WildStorm imprint join the DCU as members of the titular organization and take matters into their own hands to do what they believe is right
New tv shows:
Waller, starring Viola Davis, again featuring “Team Peacemaker,” and to be written by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Supernatural).
Lanterns, an “enormous TV event series” that follows intergalactic cops John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they uncover a dark mystery. “Our vision for this is very much in the vein of True Detective,” Safran said via THR. “This plays a really big role in leading into the main story we are telling across film and TV.”
Booster Gold, in which the fan-favorite character “uses basic technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day.”
Paradise Lost, which is set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and birthplace of Wonder Woman, and focuses on the genesis and political intrigue of an island of all women. (It is set before the events of the Wonder Woman films.)
New animation series:
Creature Commandos, a seven-episode animated show in which Amanda Waller creates a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners; Gunn wrote all the episodes of the first season. Any voice cast likely will also play live-action versions of the characters in other projects, as needed.
