I think the confusion is that she still hangs out with Scientologists (for example she's posted pics on insta with one of the Masterson sisters).

But maybe in Hollywood they're allowed to be friends.

I mean, that literally means nothing- Alana Masterson hangs out with everyone, apparently. A lot of Scientology celebrities hang out with Non-Scientologists.

In Riley's case, as long as she's not declared an SP, she's probably fine. It's absolutely notable she liked that post saying she wasn't in the cult- she's acknowledged it without openly declaring.
