Spent the whole trailer wondering who the dark-haired girl was. Young Natalie from Yellowjackets!

Anyway, this actually looks decent for a 21st century King adaptation (the It movies weren't that good, don't come for me).

Omg it is her! Thought her voice was familiar. It's always good to see anyone from Yellowjackets get work.

I read the short story it's based on last week and it's alright, but at the end there's a twist that's so nonsensical, tropey and unrealistic that I laughed out loud. Maybe it was fresh in the '70s when the story was written, idk.

[Not so exciting spoiler] In the story the narrator/main character tells a psychiatrist the harrowing story of how the boogeyman killed his children, then at the end of the session he gets up to leave, turns around and *gasp* the shrink was the boogeyman all along, the shadowy monster just put on a mask to disguise himself as human! For some reason...

I'm assuming they won't put that into the movie, as the plot seems very different anyway.

I thought the story was very creepy too, not trying to diminish that, that twist just made no logical sense to me and was very "BAM here's the monster right under your nose, bet you didn't expect that?!" kind of storytelling. Like a reverse Scooby Doo unmasking, haha.

the monster reveal sort of reminded me of guillermo del toro's "don't be afraid of the dark."
