I wasn’t a fan of the animal looks but the other pieces are just incredible.

Huh?

I thought they were insects and was puzzled why Peta was against them being killed as well; forgive my ignorance.

They are insects. Insects are animals. Are you thinking mammal?

Yes, thank you!

No prob! I thought we were about to get into a lemonade or lemon water depending on where you're standing discussion, but scientific classification models are still developing.

To be fair I always thought that insects were a separate category of their own but I realize I was comparing them to mammals, so it makes sense.

There's a lot of interesting insect-based foods on the market now and I didn't know where vegans stand on eating them, but if they're animals I guess not? I've never talked to my veggy/vegan friends about it because it's never come up. When we go out to eat it's either somewhere with a mix of options or vegan because while I can and will eat anything and enjoy it, I realize that is not an option for them.

I am a lifelong vegetarian who is kind of intrigued by the concept of consuming insects for protein... but I am prob not the norm.

I guess because like you, I mistakenly considered insects to be a separate kingdom of living beings (kind of like fungi), so eating them doesn't trigger my repulsion the way eating a fish/bird/mammal would. Plus I'm sure I've accidentally inhaled gnats or ants in my lifetime, so what's another? But I think I would prefer insect protein in the form of flour? or powder? versus whole and crunchy lol.

I know this is late as hell but I just found this in my spambox. Thank you very much for this explanation and stating the difference between having a plant based diet and being a pure vegan. I've heard of them not using honey or wearing leather as well (but not wool) so it tracks.

Same it was beautiful!!! Aside from the faux animal heads (though I appreciate how they were made) it was a good collection.

Same, it was badass. I'd wear a dress like that with a giant fake dragon head.

I hate it. I don't care about the animal cruelty part of the discussion, I just think everything looks bad and the animal heads themselves look ugly. Plus I don't like the way they were incorporated into the dresses
