he's the type of nepo baby i don't care about cause he's talented (obviously worked on it cause his early stuff was...debatable) and now that he's in the position to do it, just chooses cool/weird projects. domhnall gleeson is similar and prob the fact that i also like their dads and that they were raised outside of hollywood plays into it.
Isn’t that the whole thing with nepo babies though? They get the chances early on when they are young over much more talented individuals and then over time they have the “experience” that those others they beat out early on never really get.
oh yeah, totally, i mean he is still benefiting from nepotism. but nepotism isn't going anywhere and i'm just saying i mind it less when the beneficiaries openly acknowledge it and actually work/care about their craft as opposed to feeling entitled to being famous for nothing and putting little thought or effort into whatever projects they do.
There are so many nepo babies it’s not even a discussion for. If Stellan were not an actor, I truly believe Alexander would still be where he is today. The dude creeps me the fuck out but he is capital t TALENTED. Agree with Domhall as well. Laura Dern. Jane Fonda. John David Washington. Mariska Hargarity. Jack Quaid. Drew Barrymore. Like there are sooo many people who blew through the nepo baby discussion because they were just genuinely talented and there was no question that they belonged at their seat at the table. If everyone is calling you a nepo baby, take an acting class and shut the fuck up.
Honestly I’ve not seen a ton of his work, I thought I heard he was!! My bad if I was wrong on that one. Jack Quaid was a bit of a reach too but I love him.
i feel like jack might not be the most talented but he's decent enough. BUT the thing i like about him, and generally the thing that makes me more forgiving of nepo babies, is that he genuinely loves what he's doing. like he's legit just a big comic book nerd working on a comic book show, making a star trek animated show, and creating stuff he enjoys. i've heard him on comedy bang bang a few times and he seems like a humble, funny dude who's an earnest fanboy about a lot of things.
NGL his appearances on CBB are why I love him. He’s good as Hughie on The Boys, and okay in other things I’ve seen him in but getting to listen to him over the last few years, you are so rights, he’s so EARNESTLY a fan and seems genuinely kind and respectful of comedy as a craft. He doesn’t have the “I’m the son of two famous actors” chip. He doesn’t even seem like a rich kid. He seems like the nice movie nerd you went to high school with and root for. He has the humility that most nepo babies lack even an ounce of.
