Anna Kendrick says she thought Kristen Bell didn’t “like” her:

“I never felt like she liked me. I do think that a massive percentage of that is just when it comes to really sweet angelic blonde girls, I just assume they think I’m weird, they think I’m this weird little troll.” pic.twitter.com/5eX7f84UTy

Anna looks just like Kristen except for the blonde hair so idk why she thinks people like Kristen think she’s a weird little troll

I have a really hard time feeling sorry for beautiful celebrities when they complain about their appearance lol but in an effort to be more empathetic, I do think that blonde as the ideal is so deeply engrained in western society that even an objectively attractive person like anna might have insecurities around someone like kristen bell. celebs, they're just like us!!

If beautiful celebs actually believed they were beautiful, then so many of them wouldn't have eating disorders and spend so much money on cosmetic surgery

eh, you can be beautiful and know it but still feel pressure to look better somehow or like you need to look more like someone else (see: “instagram face” and all the women trying to look more like kim kardashian). the third-party/public nit-picking or monetary pressure/means etc. play a huge part

it's definitely complicated, but i suspect it's more about how other people react to beautiful celebs that allows them to "know" it more than how they personally feel. recognizing that other people find you beautiful doesn't mean it's been internalized.

like, i'm pretty averagely attractive. cute, nothing particularly special. however, i know that on a daily, weekly, yearly basis, i find myself more attractive than some of the most beautiful women in the world simply because i can look in a mirror every day and not see anything i want badly to change. there's nothing i'd change to make myself more attractive to myself, let alone attractive to other people.

i totally get what you mean! i read your first comment too early and took it in a surface, one direction way “if they only knew they were beautiful!” but you’re right - there is an assured kind of beauty that is more mental and women are conditioned to always question what they could change.

This industry demands unattainable beauty standards, lets people know which body parts make them undesirable, media constantly comments on their looks, we get articles as soon as somebody gains or looses weights. IDK why people are surprised that celebrities have body image issues and insecurities?

There's really nobody as insecure as people who are 'beautiful' for a living. It absolutely destroys the person's mental health and self-esteem because their body no longer exists for them, it exists to be attractive to others. They no longer look in the mirror and see themselves, they see a commodity that can be improved or 'fixed'.

I think that the focus on particularly women's bodies actually leaves these celebrity women more open to intimate partner abuse simply because all the material for an abuser to use has already been written out by the internet and the media. There's no real way to avoid knowing what people think of every aspect of them, their life, and their personality because people tweet it, DM it, say it to their faces, and it's so incredibly easy for an abuser to walk right in and use all that. 'Everyone thinks you're annoying' 'look at the comments on your instagram. everyone thinks you're disgusting.'
