I listen to her podcast, and she makes fun of her younger self a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is true. She tells a story about how she masturbated all of the time in the living room as a 9 year old and her family wouldn't say anything, and now she's mortified they never told her to stop humping the couches.

edit: and by younger self, I mean the first 46 years of her life

At 9 years old? Yikes. My social worker friends would have opinions on that.

Maybe I’m not the normal one. I had what I thought was a normal curiosity about my body at that age, but I wasn’t humping the couch all the time.

dont do this shit, we get shamed enough for being sexual beings as children, let alone girls.

My comment was aimed at my thought that a 9 year old engaging in behaviors ahead of their years struck me as odd. Apparently from the other comments, humping couches at 9 is more common than I thought, so I guess it’s not as big of a yikes as my initial reaction.

If it came off as me slut shaming a child, that was not my intent.

thats okay, sorry to sound harsh, its just me projecting frustration with how dicovering certain things for yourself alone at a young age quickly turns to dark themes and its an age where you have weak memories so its a slippery slope. ive witnessed fellow teachers behave so weirdly about normal exploration and shame kids. :\ its hard to know what normal development is and I get it, just maybe lets not go to such hasty conclusions so fast.

You weren’t being harsh, sometimes I need to be reminded that I should think before I type. I’m no child development expert, so I probably shouldn’t have commented to begin with.

totally, my comment was so poorly worded as well bc its more comfort and just finding stuff out abuut your nerve endings and rarely being "sexual" in that sense as a kid, which is why you often dont get that its a private thing until someine explains. were all having a long night lol.

were we all humping couches when we were a kid? ive told a few friends by now that i used to hump on the arm of our couch not knowing why it felt so good, and theyre always like yeah, sames.
at least i knew it was taboo enough to do it when no one was around tho. some friends said they did do it front of their family lmfao.
