Thank you all for reaching out regarding Adam Rich.

If you knew Adam, you just loved the guy. And oh the stories he could tell.

Actor Adam Rich, best known for playing Nicholas Bradford on Eight Is Enough, passed away on January 7 at the age of 54. He also voiced Presto the Magician in the animated series Dungeons & Dragons and played the role of Danny Blake in Code Red in the ‘80s. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical-Examiner Coroner confirmed that Rich died at his home in Brentwood. The cause of death was not disclosed, but foul play is not suspected.

His publicist Danny Deraney posted the tweet above, alluding to Adam's clinical depression and substance abuse, both of which Adam was very open about. In 1996, there was a media hoax (published with Adam's cooperation and consent) in the San Francisco-based magazine Might claiming that he had been murdered. Dave Eggers, who was Might's founding editor, included the incident in his memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

During the pandemic, Adam urged people to get vaccinated so of course now there are a bunch of anti-vaxxers/conspiracy theorists claiming that he died because the vaccine weakened his immune system and caused his death.

Betty Buckley, who played his stepmother on Eight Is Enough, posted a tribute to him:
