as someone who was a teen in the 90s -- i feel like MSCL is really overrated hahah? Maybe it struck a chord with some people. Not me! It's not terribly different from other teen dramas tbh

I rewatched it late last year and then articles about how it was ahead of it's time in several ways, which made me appreciate it - like Ricky being the first openly (bi? gay?) character, and first one of colour, at that time.

I think it was an important show in pop culture, though maybe more retrospectively than when it aired, since it was cancelled after 1 season.

I really didn't watch it regularly -- only gave it one episode before I dipped out -- but I hated that I was supposed to "relate" to Claire Danes' character, which was what everyone was trying to shove at me about that show at the time

I was an introspective teen so I related to that aspect of her internal monologues a bit, I guess. Rewatching it now is fun for the fashion nostalgia and even though Angela is super bratty, I find it entertaining. I relate more to her mom more now which is kinda of wild.

But I wont try and sell you on it lol, sounds like it's not your jam.
