interesting. idk, i think that using the subway system to convey nyc is not that inventive of an idea. but gil's is a lot better and i think they would've made it look more like that if they could, which makes me think they were aware of it and trying to make it look as different as possible.

but having the pathway in the shape of the ghost mask kinda is. they knew what they were doing, and it's pretty shitty.

What other image would they use that's unique to this franchise?

That's not my point? What makes the idea stand out is not that the subway system was used, is that they managed to do it picking an iconic reference to the franchise. it's irrelevant that using the subway system isn't inventive when the idea as a whole was very well executed.

but what other iconic reference would they use for a poster about a ghostface killer other than the mask which has been featured on every single poster in the franchise? i mean he specifically designed this inspired by the upcoming film, which is set in NY and whose teaser trailer features a scene in the subway.

and again, not my point. The implication of the original comment is that the idea of using the subway system isn't inventive - which I agree with - but my point is that what makes this particular design great is that the artist was able to create it using a clear reference to the film. it's not relevant that using the subway isn't inventive, what's relevant is the way he managed to insert ghosface there.

but again, what other clear reference could he use other than the mask? yes, technically it's inventive but the idea of a using a ghost face mask to trace a subway map isn't singular or unique given that the movie takes place in NY with several scenes taking place in the actual subway.

I feel like I've already made abundantly clear that what I find great about this idea isn't the idea itself, it's the execution. You either don't get it or disagree with it, which is fine but I'm done explaining.

"but having the pathway in the shape of the ghost mask kinda is."

this implies the idea, which is not that unique nor is its execution tbh. agree to disagree.

I don't think it's just that it's the subway to make up Ghostface's mask, I think it's that all the subway lines represent the individual Scream movies and the stops are all the order that characters in the movies die.
