you can't donate eggs with an autoimmune disease? They're just like, hey, sorry, your psoriasis makes you genetically undesirable? I knew you couldn't donate blood with an autoimmune but never heard that about eggs.
If that's true, how ridiculous. The egg recipients should be given the full medical profile and allowed to decide.
Wait. You can’t donate eggs with an autoimmune disease but they’ll just let any man in? I’ve been following some donor conceived kids on tiktok and aside from one of them being in the know of a dangerously high level of live births (which is another thing), she talks about how some men have auto immune diseases and donate without knowing and clinics don’t even check!
I was briefly thinking of using a donor in case the 'right man' never came along. And then I saw that SVU ep with the donor conceived kids who always felt empty inside because they never knew their fathers.
I wish I remembered the user on TikTok’s handle because she is big on fighting for more or better regulations on the fertility industry. And she said she was approached by another donor conceived person who was informed by their donor that the number of live births was a really big number (like public health crisis big) and recently found out that number was from only one clinic. So it’s always good to due diligence.
But it’s wild you have to request those records when they should just be there. Like you’re bringing a human into this world, why don’t they want them to be less prone to bad health?

Have a history of depression in your family? We'll pass on your eggs, thanks!

This reminds me of a picture I saw of a man in a T-shirt that said; "Not the Stepfather, I'm the Father who stepped up."
