Alrighty when she gonna figure out that the link between EDS & ASD is stronggggg and she should look into that too👀

Saying as a fellow bendy, chronically ill oversharer

But for real very glad she speaking about this. I’ve already had a friend tell me they saw her TikTok about it and learned a bit more :)

Autism Spectrum Disorder.

EDS groups don’t talk much about the link (bc ableism😤) but everyone I know with EDS IRL is also Autistic. I got my ASD diagnosis just months after my EDS one.

My other cousin (cousin 1's brother) died of an OD a few years ago but at Christmas she was telling my mom that her autistic son reminded her so much of how my other cousin was as a child. My mom has bipolar, too, my grandparents passed on some interesting genetics to their lineage (hopefully including their long-lived ones, they're both 90 now and their mothers both lived to almost 100).

Obviously not trying to disagree with your moms diagnosis at all but I do wanna share that a whole lot of women are misdiagnosed as bipolar when it’s ASD. All the studies they’re still going on for ASD is based on 12yo white boys so it’s not understood well in basically everyone else. It’s honestly so bonkers when you see how flawed it all is.

As soon as I was diagnosed I could trace it back through each generation, it was so obvious in hindsight. Lot of things we normalized in our family that um we’re not normal

I know so many ppl with ADHD and/or ASD who have joint and muscle issues (myself included). I have a good friend with EDS, an acquaintance with Marfan syndrome, I have early arthritis symptoms as well as a shoulder that pops out of place, the list goes on and on.
There may not be direct causation, but there really does appear to be at least SOME correlation and I wish more people talked about it.

Yeah I was coming here tk say that.

I don’t have anything but there also seems to be a super strong correlation with ADHD and PMDD, as well as ADHD and PCOS intrestingly enough.

No studies of course. Women’s health who cares?

Oh shit I didn't know that about PMDD & PCOS. I have ADHD & struggle with PMDD & never really looked into a correlation.
It's funny, I was chatting with my mom the other day because she's a nurse and she was telling me that she wouldn't be surprised if in the next decade or so, we start to see ASD & ADHD being classified as autoimmune disorders or something more akin to that, just because of the huge correlations there appear to be between being on that spectrum and having chronic health issues.
