Trying to not take it personally that his book list isn’t included (jk but also why not lol) but he did have my favorite of the year listed, Imani Perry’s South To America. Single best book I’ve ever read about the South, loved it so much!

“Ducks” by Kate Beaton is on his book list and I’m so happy it is! She did such an incredible job of telling her story working in the Canadian oil sands. As someone who’s from that culture and has significant family ties to the industry, she did a fantastic job of presenting a story set against a complicated background and I truly hope more people read it.

OMG I read this book a few weeks ago and it was AMAZING. I love her other literary comic stuff but this was something else and it was such a great read.
