Ana de Armas Fans’ Lawsuit Puts Studios at Risk Over Deceptive Trailers

A federal judge has ruled movie studios can be sued under false advertising laws if they release deceptive movie trailers.

This comes after 2 Ana de Armas fans filed a lawsuit alleging they rented ‘YESTERDAY’ after seeing de Armas in the trailer.

idc enough to have a horse in this race but i too hate when trailers show things that are not actually in the movies so GOOD

No it's not. All this suit would do (if it does anything at all) is stop advertisers from misleading customers about thinking a star is in a movie when they aren't

You don’t understand advertising at all?
Something like the Blair witch campaign would not b allowed after a lawsuit like this w/out an asterisk…

idk why you don't see the difference between Blair Witch and them advertising that an actor is in the movie when she actually got cut. They aren't the same thing. Context matters even in law.

I worked in advertising for a very long time…
