A post by football sensation and World Cup champion Lionel Messi has overtaken all other posts on Instagram, with over 63 million likes (and growing) at the time of writing.
The previous record holder of this title was @world_record_egg, which had 55.7 million likes at the time of Guinness World Records' most recent verification.
Messi also set the following records during the 2022 World Cup:
- Most Man of the Match awards won at the FIFA World Cup: 11
- First person to assist at five different FIFA World Cups
- Most FIFA World Cup matches played in by a player: 26
- Most FIFA World Cup appearances as captain: 19
- Most appearances in FIFA World Cup tournaments by a player (male): 5
- Most FIFA World Cup matches played in by a player: 26
