Genuinely astounding the way DC manages to get this wrong at every possible turn.

and yet, somehow, they will probably STILL release The Flash

They are really set on 'The Flash' making some semblance of bank to recoup the budget. Meanwhile, they could've easily released 'Batgirl' and have some money and content for fans while they figure this shit out, but nope 🙃

Me and my brother were ranting about Batgirl being canned. He found something on-line about how it was supposed to be a HBO Max release. Then they considered putting it in theaters, but they couldn't find a way to "beef it up" (big action scenes, I guess) so they just scrapped it.

Michael Keaton's Bruce Wane/Batman was going to be an "elder statesman" or mentor, popping up in several DC movies Batgirl & The Flash among them.
But it looks like that's not happening now. Supposedly his part was cut out of The Flash. Or at least greatly reduced.

They were planning a Batman beyond film too so that makes sense! I really wish we got batgirl, ffs

They saw what Marvel had going on, decided "Yes, we want that," and then tried way too much too quickly. Marvel didn't start out knowing what a massive franchise they were about to spawn when they made Iron Man, but by the time they got to Captain America they knew what they were doing, and they took their time building things up. DC has always seemed to have more of a "throw things at the wall and see what sticks" thing going on.
