Im so angry with how many people defend this dude. Especially the ones who say things like "Why didnt all these women come out sooner!!!". Thats problematic for two reasons. The first, being that that statement in general is a gaslighting statement that implies victims have a certain amount of time in which they have to speak up, and doesnt account for all the things that someone who is assaulted experiences, such as trauma, confusion especially if someone is drugged, denial, threats against their or their families' lives and most importantly, lack of help, assistance or belief even when they DO tell someone. And two, people act like this wasnt talked about for literal DECADES. It was literally in Jet magazine in the SEVENTIES. Much like Harvey Weinstein, people knew but they would treat it in a joking way because hey, instead of justice, lets just tell jokes. Like its so funny to have a commercial where Christina Aguliera is implied to be on Harvey Weinsteins casting couch having sex with him! Thats so funny right? Not to mention Bill Cosby was extremely close with Hugh Hefner, was always at his home, and was given special access to playmates and to things that most people werent at the time. The pieces of the puzzle should fall into place with that alone. Hugh LITERALLY talked about quaaludes constantly. Surprise surprise, a lot of the Cosby allegations mention quaaludes specifically too. It doesnt take a rocket science to figure out.
There's also a thing that a part of surviving and moving on, sometimes one starts a family, moves, gets kids, really tries to put it past them, until one realizes that they can't. And then they file these lawsuits and are blamed for that. So it's somehow implied that we are supposed to do all the healing on our own too. Like with rape reporting there should be a chance, that we are not supposed to blow. I'm angry with you.
