-DC animation has been the crown jewel of DC content since the 90s and now with new mgmt, they are looking to allow other studios create animated content.
-in order to make money, they are close to closing a deal with Amazon to create animated DC content as Zaslav is no longer interested keeping everything in house and make HBO MAX the one stop shop for everything DC.
-while not confirmed it can be speculated that Amazon would create & host animation that is not part of the DCU while HBO MAX would house animation that is in continuity with the DCU as Gunn has stated that DCU continuity will be told over movies/tv/toons/games.
