According to wiki, his mom was a teacher and his dad an artist. Ora’s mom was a psychiatrist and dad was a pub owner - she also was less than a year old when her family emigrated to Notting Hill, so she didn’t even grow up in Kosovo.

Anyway, I can buy his family being working class. I don’t buy that hers was as well.

They either need to get someone to change the info on the internet or they don’t know shit about each other/themselves which would be v embarrassing. Like every post about them.

Some celebs need to get their publicists onto Wiki to fix info clearly from stans or info that just makes someone come off as weird. But dear god i can tell sometimes when the person who edits the wiki is the person themselves. I won't name names but jeez the only person weirder than a stan sometimes is the person themselves.

It isn't someone famous I'm thinking of, just someone in the entertainment industry that sounded like they were bragging hardcore about the weirdest stuff that was not an achievement. But this one I'm thinking of put details in that led to some weird personal info if you googled it. Like home addresses and court cases and family drama shit that you don't want on the internet. If it wasn't that person editing their page it was def someone in their family. Then again that rabbit hole of a wiki article was... something else. Moral of the story, don't let your wiki page lead to your home address with one google search.

I think the family's financial situation changed a lot as she grew up. Before they became refugees, her dad was an economist in Kosovo and her mom was a psychiatrist but they didn't speak English so they couldn't just get the jobs they had before in London. Rita's said the four of them were sharing a room for a while. Her mom has talked about it and has said that they were living in council housing and the dad was doing shift work in pubs for years before eventually taking a pub over and she eventually retrained and got a job with the NHS.

As a refugee, I completely understand that finances can change and the hardships families go through. The fact that her parents managed to become successful after moving to a different country is inspiring.

But, I’m always wary about how celebs depict their backgrounds (ex, I think it was Halsey that claimed she was also very poor, but it turned out to.. not be true at all). I never knew anything about Ora before today, but curiosity got the best of me and.. the articles just don’t line up. In some her parents emigrated, in others they’re refugees (two wildly different experiences). In some her parents were poor until she became rich, in others they went through a short period of adjustment before they became successful in their own right. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think from her and her parents' statements it all lines up. They've always claimed that they moved as refugees. It sounds like they were struggling when they were smaller children and by the time she was a teenager, they'd stabilized quite a bit and her mom was able to pass the exams and start practicing again. At that point they probably weren't outrageously wealthy but they were at least comfortably middle class.

Oh I don’t think they were wealthy at all, but considering that she said her father was able to buy a pub 8 years after they moved and it quickly became successful… I’d say they were pretty comfortable.

Idk which boat she’s in but I do think that celebs either A) have certain goals they want to accomplish in how they depict their childhood and/or B) many forget what the meaning of different socioeconomic terms having lived a life of luxury for so long.

(Not saying either of them thinks this, but I can totally see a celeb - or even influencer - thinking “working class” is someone who works rather than a very specific way of life.)
