Melissa was supposed to be in it but she backed out because she didn't want to move to France to film it, and maybe for other personal reasons as well.

And yeah your right Norman goes to every single convention he can and he is paid a lot of money for going. He is set if he just does that every single year and does nothing else.

france? that sounds random, is daryl going to an entirely different part of the states than he's been in this whole time? or maybe its not random, i havent watched the show in literal years so maybe they're in less southern-looking places now

Daryl is traveling all the way to France (like actually France, the country lol it's going to be set in France too), presumably to find Rick and Michonne. We don't know exactly how he gets there and what the context is. It's going to be explained in his spin-off.

Coincidentally, Norman has been living in France since TWD wrapped with his girlfriend and kid. His girlfriend who talked about wanting to raise their kid in France before the spinoff location was changed from Daryl and Carol in the states to just Daryl getting kidnapped to France.

There have been a lot of made up rumors about why Melissa McBrids is no longer part of it(her health, her father’s health, she’s tired and “needs a break”), though this is the first time I’ve heard of a teenager lol

(Apologies for the novel. I gave up watching TWD a while ago, but I will always be a Carol and Melissa McBride fan. And the way that fandom and AMC and even her costars have been so cruel and disrespectful to this actress all the way to pushing her out of her own spinoff has really soured any little bit of positive memories I could even carry over from this show. She’s a very private person and because of that, it seems people feel more comfortable spreading rumors or speaking for her, bc they know she’s not going to make a fuss. So, when it comes up, I have to make a fuss for her.)

The fandom was cruel to her? The only part of the fandom I know is reddit and people seem to worship her and Carol over there. Didn't know that.

Yep. It wasn’t very kind for a while, but was more focused on Carol than Melissa, but it ramped up in S4 and S5. A lot of ageist remarks, the Beth/Daryl fans were especially awful with the ageism, but also spread rumors that she forced the writers to kill off Beth and that she persuaded the showrunner with sexual favors.

And it basically never died down from then on. Daryl fangirls called her an old hag, Daryl’s mother, and were consistently attacking her looks. Added that she only kept her job by crying for it. She used to be active on Twitter until the harassment got to be too much. She’s talked about in interviews about her awareness of all of this and she’s always been gracious about it all, but she’s also pulled further and further away from all reaches of fandom.

As is usual in fandom, a lot of it is based in shipping issues and female characters getting attention. It’s just it bled over into attacking the actual actress with a barrage of ageism and misogyny.

I love Carol, Beth and Daryl so much so reading all of this makes me happy I wasn't following the show for years like so many people... I just binged everything a couple of months ago, with no awareness of any drama.

The fandom is ageist and sexist AF to her. The Daryl fandom have a shorthand against Carol: ABC. It stands for Anyone But Carol.
