After claims the player made in a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Manchester United have appointed lawyers to sue Cristiano Ronaldo for alleged breach of contract.
What does this mean? Well, likely that Ronaldo will almost certainly never play for the club again. He has has also apparently been instructed not to return to the club’s Carrington training base after the World Cup is over.
What exactly was said in this interview? In a nutshell, Ronald claimed that:
- He is being forced out by the club
- Senior executives neglected to show empathy after his newborn son died in April
- The owners, the Glazer family do not care about the club
- Manager Erik ten Hag does not respect him
Ronaldo’s contract, which expires in July, is worth about £500,000 a week.
The club have issued the following statement:
“Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.”
