i just rewatched lb 1&2 and am on s2 of the hills. this is perfect timing. i’ve seen lb and the hills a million times so this is making me so happy rn

Have you seen the recaps that Whitney and her husband did of The Hills and Laguna Beach? They are pretty good - they provide background context and insight into things like where something was likely edited, or refilmed, or how and where producers intervened, while reacting to the content of the show. There are points that are a little weird, in that it seems like Whitney and/or her husband have personal feelings about some of the folks (e.g., LC) that influence their perspectives, but overall it's an enjoyable way to rewatch.

That’s definitely the thing that made me go 🤔 🤨. Part of me thinks that it’s probably just a matter of people growing up and drifting apart and we may have made it bigger than it is. The other part of me doesn’t accept that and feels (or wants, I dunno) to believe that there is more to the story.

And look at us, submitting the same thing. We’re clearly in the same wavelength.

I feel like they grew apart because of where they are in their lives. Lauren is married and a mom and Lo is single, living in NYC and running a successful business. It’s sad but it happens.

This was honestly such a gift and something I never knew I needed. To see LC and Kristin apologize to each other and for the three of them rehash and make peace .... I never thought I'd see the day.

Lauren is still classy as ever. Shoutout to Stephen for making her feel comfortable enough to go on the podcast, she never does stuff like this. Even the Whitney Port interview, it felt like she was still on guard.

ITA! If you had told 2004 me that this day would come, I wouldn't have believed you.

Even though I"m glad that (1) Lauren and Kristin were savvy enough to parlay the exposure into the careers/lifestyles they wanted and (2) that they are now able to be mature and apologize to each other, I really hate that this is all because MTV was deliberately manipulating TEENAGERS for storylines and drama.

I think Whitney has some resentment towards Lauren which added to some of the weirdness. Lauren and Stephen are legitimate friends and Kristin and LC have a common history and understanding. Whitney kind of joined this world later and I think their friendship, while they connected on the show, was still very manufactured. LC has kind of made it clear that by the time she did the hills she started setting boundaries between TV life and real life. So while I do like Whitney and have enjoyed her rewatch, I feel like she resented LC for not being as close with her as she thought they should have been.

whitney def resents lauren, it was super apparent in the rewatch series her and her husband do. and you can tell her husband dislikes lauren on whitney's behalf, he was always making OTT comments about how annoying/fake she was during the hills.

Ok I have not listened yet but I love that this happened and I am so happy it did.

ETA I’m watching now and it’s already great. And yeah MTV clearly manipulated them and didn’t inform them as to what they were doing. And also clearly underpaid them. May have more to report as I keep watching lol.

The vibe I got from Talen was that he was always down for the ride and to have a good time. Nice to know that was accurate lol
